Our Focus Areas

Basic Human Needs

The fastest growing population of people experiencing homelessness and visiting food pantries are working families. Low wages, high cost of living, and the lack of educational opportunities all contribute to the epidemic of homelessness & hunger in our region.

With your investment, United Way supports a variety of emergency and intervention programs that respond to such basic needs as housing, food, shelter, clothing, health, etc.

Education

Success in life begins with a quality education. Yet, many children and youth lack the support they need to strengthen their literacy, stay on track in school, graduate high school and find a career. We’re fighting to shift the odds so tomorrow’s leaders can build a better foundation today. With an approach to education that spans from cradle to career, we’re ensuring every child gets a strong start in life.

Health

The health of individuals is a strong indicator of the health of a community. Achieving and maintaining good health is important during all stages of life, from conception through childhood, into adulthood and through older age. To improve the health of our community, we must all become more aware of health risks, starting from before birth. Whether it is a teen struggling to make the right decision, a senior in need of home health care, or a survivor of abuse seeking a safer environment; United Way is working to improve the quality of life for all.

United Way partners with agencies to provide help to those without health insurance, seniors in need of home health care, survivors of abuse, and individuals struggling with mental illness or addiction.
