COVID-19 RESPONSE GRANTS
The United Way of Northeast Michigan serves Alcona, Alpena & Montmorency counties and we have received emergency grant donations to apply to those agencies and organizations responding to the unanticipated needs of people caused by this pandemic. If you are repsonding to the special needs in your community, i.e., homeless assistance, food needs, childcare support for essential workers, heating and utility assistance, transportation needs, etc. we encourage you to complete an application for consideration of our grant funding. 2-1-1 Help Line
Contact United Way 2-1-1-, which is available 24/7, and provides information about health and human service resources available for Alcona, Alpena and Montgomery County residents.
Whether you are looking for medical help, foreclosure prevention programs, utility assistance, help with food or clothing, or any other challenge facing your family, a call to Michigan 2-1-1 may provide the answer you are looking for. Dial 9-1-1- for Police and Medical emergencies.

GEAR UP!
Provides gift cards for back-to-school clothes, school supplies and personal hygene items for quaifying low-income jr. high -high school youth. Children are screened by school administrators for the program. To volunteer or support this program call (989) 354-2221 or email us. Formerly called the School Clothes Initiative.
THE ALICE REPORT: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed
Across Michigan, 46 percent of households struggle to afford the basic necessities of housing, child care, food, health, health care and transportation. While United Ways across the state are working to address these disparities through programming and services, state lawmakers will have to work together to create polices that support working families. MINI GRANTS
United Way of Northeast Michigan accepts applications for mini grants, from any 501c3 non-profit health and human care organizations twice a year, in March and September.
Organizations can apply for up to $1,000. Applications can be emailed or delivered to the United Way office. Email uwnemi@unitedwaynemi.org or drop off at our office at 108 Water St. Alpena, Mi. 49707.

STATEMENT IN SUPPORT OF EQUITY IN OUR WORK
The pursuit of equity is critical to our work, from our engagement with donors to our investment of community resources and our interactions with the public. Equity is not just the absence of discrimination, but is also about the presence of values and systems that ensure fairness and justice. We commit to equity as a core value it we are to create a thriving community for everyone.
We recognize structural racism, ethnic discrimination and other forms of prejudice have contributed to disparities that have existed in the past and persist in the present. We acknowledge that those inequities are the result of policies and practices that work to marginalize entire populations of people. We unequivocally denounce racism, ethnic discrimination and prejudice because they undermine the well-being and vitality of our communities. Our mission compels us to prioritize historically marginalized and systematically exclude people. It is necessary to focus on race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status, as well as other intersectional identities, to end historical social and systemic inequities that persist in our communities.
We acknowledge that we can only be successful if we recognize, raise up and support leaders from underrepresented neighborhoods and communities. United Way of Northeast Michigan is committed to engaging these leaders as partners, donors and volunteers.
